To be honest, flowers are not my favorite thing to photograph, but I still find myself with tons of flower pictures anyway. I think it’s because I often find that flower photography can be all too common, and that bugs me a little — it’s almost too easy to take a decent picture of a flower. Above is one of my favorite flower shots, and I like it because it focuses more on the architecture of the petals rather than the flower itself — I find it to be more about lighting and composition than the subject of the image.

I guess I’m a bit of an odd one here: I enjoy flowers from time to time, but I have yet to figure out how to consistently get true color in my photos of them. I suppose that is to be expected from an amateur–at least for a while, huh? 🙂
Anyway, your photo is beautiful.
Holy cow, Halie, you’ve really been updating a lot. I stopped and you started. haha.
I think this photograph is gorgeous. More, please.

oh so romantic…and soft…and delicate
Beautiful! Love crisp white colour and that is looks so delicate – like it could easily blow away any second. Really lovely. xx
Excellent close crop calling the eye in to study the individual petals.

Oh goodness. Love your crop on this image. Very beautiful.
I totally agree with everything you said! The thought of taking pictures of flowers bores but yet I have a tonne lol. I love your photo though! It’s stunning.
I like it. But I know what you mean. Flowers can get boring. Even if they are cropped interestingly and stuff, they can still be boring. But I think you did a great job here!

i like this slice of a peony!
i agree that flowers can be ordinary – and the challenge is in discovering the extraordinary & capturing it – which you have done here! Thanks for sharing this one.
For some reason I am unable to publish under my photo blog name, pix & kardz, so here is the link for my contribution:
